Beginner Level
In this 28 week class, learners will meet once a week one on one with the teacher to focus on the basics of the Spanish language. No prior Spanish exposure is required. Each 25 minute session will include a review of what we have previously studied, introduction to new vocabulary, and songs. This class will make use of the "Llamitas Spanish" curriculum. This curriculum wonderfully focuses on teaching Spanish to students ages 3-12. The curriculum includes three levels. Level 1 provides a gentle introduction to first concepts in Spanish. In this class, your child should expect to see a PowerPoint presentation, sing songs, complete worksheets, and learn simple Spanish phrases which will prepare them for further levels in the curriculum. As a requirement of the course, students must practice what has been studied in each class session and come prepared to participate to every class. Classes build on each other, and students must master the concepts in order to thrive in the course. It is highly recommended for parents to do a daily review with their child of all concepts learned in class. This should be done by reviewing worksheets and memorizing all songs by heart. Students will be expected to practice these concepts at home and to come ready with all songs and vocabulary memorized for the next class. ~~~ Looking Ahead: Level 2 will be starting in September of 2025. The entire curriculum consists of 4 levels; levels 2, 3, and 4 will be opened upon completion of the previous course.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to Spanish phonics in a gentle manner while learning all the letters of the Spanish alphabet, vocabulary with each letter, colors, numbers through 20, shapes, days of the week, weather words, and months of the year.
