Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner - Advanced Level
Your child will have fun in this play-based kindergarten. Play is essential to young children’s healthy development and learning. Yet play is rapidly disappearing from many kindergarten programs.
Each week, we will learn two new songs and movement games. Children can also request their favorite songs from our repertoire of children’s songs. The songs support learning language development and social emotional skills.
We will learn to build and read CVC, CCVC, and CVCC words using our blending arm and stretching words to hear the sounds in them. We will also have fun finding rhyming word pairs and finding syllables for words.

We will explore the following language and phonics skills:
-	Learning letter sounds
-	Identifying shapes that make up letters
-	Learning our letters - uppercase and lowercase
-	Telling the difference between vowels and consonants
-	Long and short vowels
-	Vowel teams
-	R controlled vowels
-	Beginning and ending digraphs
-	Beginning and ending blends
-	What are Syllables?
-	Blending letter sounds together
-	Rhyming word games
-	Identifying the beginning, middle and ending sounds in words
-	Making words
-	Word families
-	Reading and writing sight words
