Hello Little Adventurers! Are you ready to visit each and every continent on the planet?! In this flexible class leaners will virtually travel to each continent. They will learn details about each continent, some of the famous landmarks and the comparative sizes. For each lesson learners will get a pre-recorded lesson from me and activities to complete in a Nearpod lesson, as well a study pack with fun worksheets, crafts, activities and challenges to complete at home! Assignments will take place in the form of crafts and drawings which can be uploaded and shared with peers in the classroom! Nearpod is an interactive presentation tool that is completely free for you to access. The lessons on Nearpod will include a mixture of videos from me, pictures, games, quizzes and interactive activities. There will be a total of 8 lessons over 4 weeks: Week 1 - Introduction to the 7 Continents & Asia Week 2 - Africa & North America Week 3 - South America & Antarctica Week 4 - Europe & Oceania / Australia Introduction to the 7 Continents: Learners are introduced to the world and the 7 continents. We will learn: -What is a continent? -What are the 7 continents in the world? -Where are they on a map? -How big are they? During this lesson learners will create a map of the world. Asia / Africa / North America / South America / Antarctica / Europe / Oceania: The structure will be similar for these classes as we learn about each continent in more detail. As we travel to each country we will be reminded of where it is on the map. We will visit some key places of interest such as the highest / largest / lowest / smallest features and some of the Wonders of the World! We will also look in more detail at 2 of the countries in each continent (excluding Antarctica). For each continent there will be a video of one craft for learners to follow along with at home. After each lesson learners will be asked to think about what their favourite part of the trip was and what they loved in the continent visited, they can share this in the classroom by writing a comment or by drawing a picture and uploading it! Learners will be asked to create a flag for the continent based on what they have learnt about it. They should think about what colours, shapes and elements best represent the continent. Additional continent specific tasks will be uploaded with each continent. This will include worksheets, craft instructions, or other activities relevant to the continent. Each lesson will also come with one STEAM challenge for learners to try! Lessons, assignments and study packs will be uploaded into the classroom each week on Mondays at 8am and Thursdays at 8am (UK time). After assignments are uploaded in the classroom I will be sure to send feedback to each learner within 24 hours. Note: this is a flexible class so there will be no live meetings!
