Assessment
An assessment will be conducted during the first and toward the last of our sessions. This will allow for a comparison/progress report. I can also provide other types of grading option if you would like.Class Experience

These tutoring sessions are OPEN. *Please, request a time to enroll.* If your learner needs tutoring for comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, informative writing, creative writing, note-taking, and more, I am here to help! In these 1:1 sessions, instruction will be based on your learner's literacy needs. ___ Literacy tutoring - lessons on topics such as: -phonics - fluency - vocabulary -comprehension - phonemic awareness - phonological awareness - writing process -informative writing -persuasive writing - narrative/creative writing - text features - note-taking/research skills The first step I take in these tutoring sessions is an assessment to pinpoint a starting point of each student's individual areas of strengths and areas for improvement. If you have an area you would like these sessions to focus on, please, discuss it with me when I send a welcome message after you enroll. I am here to help! I will also send a message about the findings of the assessment and we can form your student's learning goals. Each session after the assessment will be lessons focused on areas for improvement while also allowing students to show strengths and gain confidence. I always start a tutoring session with a fun check-in such as a mood scale or fun question. I will design a slideshow with information/interactive activities/opportunities to participate on specific individual needs. If any addition materials are needed for the lesson, I will send a message ahead of time to let you know. These materials would be items like paper, pencil, crayons/colored pencils. If you have access to a printer, I also can provide printables if needed. Depending on the topic/grade, we sometimes use different external resources such as quiz games like Kahoot! and Blooket or other reading/writing related games like ABCya!. ABCya! would only be shared on my screen and linked in a classroom post after class. If you would like to know more about these external resources, please send me a message. What are your questions? Hello! My name is Ms. C. I am so excited to see you in my Outschool classroom! I offer many classes related to dogs, wildlife, science, reading, and writing. I love teaching topics from the beautiful animals here on Earth to the gorgeous stars in the sky. I love incorporating reading, art and science all together. I have my Associate’s degree in Animal Science, Associate’s degree in Elementary Education, and my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Middle Dual Education with a specialization in Science. I am a certified teacher, and I am currently a substitute teacher and an Outschool teacher. I strive to support all my students in learning and welcoming them to a safe space. I encourage creativity, pursuing interests, and a passion for lifelong learning. I enjoy reading, writing, and being outside. A hobby that has always helped me relax has been drawing or painting.
