 Week 1
Lesson 1
Plotting and the Coordinate System
In this session, the student will learn how to identify the location of points on a coordinate graph and find the length of a line segment. Exercise - Label ordered pairs, determine distance between points, identify the location of coordinates, and plot points in different quadrants. Applications to plotting geometrical shapes will also be covered in this lesson.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Finding Slope Graphically and With Formulas
In this session, the student define slope and learn how to calculate slope graphically and with a formula for linear equations. Students will be introduced to direct variation (k). The student will also learn the relationship of slope (m) with the constant of proportionality (k) and how to identify the direction, magnitude of the slope (m). Exercise - Define slope and constant of proportionality. Calculate the slope and constant of proportionality using graphs and with formulas.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Building Linear Equations
In this session, the student will learn how to identify the intercepts of a linear equation. The student will also learn how to write linear equations in the general form, slope-intercept, point-slope, and intercept forms. Exercise - Practice activities on writing linear equations in different forms and graphing.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Special relationships of Linear Equations
In this session, the student will learn how to identify, write, and graph horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines. Exercise - Practice activities on graphing and writing parallel and perpendicular lines and their real-world applications. Examples using geometric shapes will be included in this assignment.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Systems of Equations by Graphing and Elimination
In this session, the student will learn how to solve systems of equations using graphing and elimination methods. Exercise - Practice activities solving two equations using graphing and elimination.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Systems of Equations by Substitution
In this lesson, students will learn how to solve systems of equations using substitution. Exercise - Practice activities on how to find solutions for pairs of equations using the substitution method.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Systems of Three Equations
In this lesson, students will learn how to use the methods of substitution, elimination, and graphing to solve a system of three equations.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Application with Word Problems
In this session, the student will practice translating word problems into linear equations. An emphasis on the application of learned skills to problem-solving and critical thinking will be emphasized in this lesson. Topics covered will include direct variation, solving linear equations, and systems of equations. Exercise - Practice will include solving different forms systems of equations from word problems.
