Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
🩸This class is a multi day class on the same topics that are discussed in my other Ongoing class that has been running for several months:
https://outschool.com/classes/middle-school-science-human-body-organs-and-body-systems-ongoing-drop-in-gpNYeneo#usd62WkPaa

🩸This class discusses all the facts about different body organs and organ systems. Each week one body system and all the organs that make up the system will be discussed. Students will learn about each organ structure and function that makes up the organ system. Students will learn the complete process and working of the organ system.

🩸🩸🩸
1. A Review Notes worksheet will be shared in the classroom after the class meeting, for the students to reinforce the class learning. This will have all the information and some images of all that will be discussed in each class.
2. Students will be provided with optional assignments to complete outside of the class time each week. These assignments may be in the form of a fun experiment, creating models or a play dough activity. These activities will involve regular common materials available at home.

The images and videos are age appropriate and used from credible educational sources.
No previous knowledge is required.

Anatomy is the study of the structures associated with the human body.
Physiology is the study of the function of each of these structures. The human body is often thought of as a complicated machine. In order for the machine to work, it must have each of these parts to function optimally.

🩸First 2 minutes will be an introduction of the teacher and students and a discussion on the topic for the day.
Next 40 minutes will be the teacher sharing a Google Slide presentation, reinforcing the concepts learned in the class and watching short video clips on the topic, from credible educational sources with graphics and animations.
Students are welcome to discuss and ask questions to make the class more interactive.
Last 3 minutes students will share his/her learning with the class and may ask relevant and essential questions.

🩸🩸🩸Class Schedule:-

Day 1- The Human body organization and body systems

Day 2- The Skeletal System

Day 3- The Digestive System

Day 4- The Circulatory System

Day 5- The Respiratory System

Day 6- The Nervous System

Day 7- The Urinary System

Day 8- The Lymphatic and Immune System

Day 9- The Integumentary System- Skin, Nails and Hair

Day 10- The Senses Organs- Eyes and Ears

Day 11- The Senses Organs- Tongue, Skin and Nose

Day 12- A 'Kahoot' Quiz and discussion on our body systems.

Guiding Questions:
1.How many organs do we have and what do they all do?
2. Do all the organs in our body have to work together to keep your body going?
3. What happens to our body when one or more organs in our body do not work properly?
4. What are organ systems?
5. Does each system in our body carry out it's own function?
6. Do the different organs and organ systems interact with each other?
Learning Goals
Students will learn all about different organs and organ systems in our body. They will learn their structure and functions. They will also learn the interactions of organs and body systems with each other.

12 Lessons
over 12 Weeks
Lesson 1:
The Human body organization and body systems
Students will learn the levels of organization of the human body- the cells, tissues, organs and organ systems. Students will learn about the different body systems, the types of systems, the organs that make up the system and the function of each body system. They will also learn how all body systems work together.
Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular, Nervous, Endocrine, Lymphatic, Urinary, Respiratory, Digestive and Integumentary System.
A Review Notes worksheet will be shared.
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
The Skeletal System
Students will learn the two main types of skeleton system and the structure and function of each. They will learn what bones make up each of these. They will also learn about the different types of bones found in the human body and also about the different types of joints found in our body.
A Review Notes worksheet will be shared.
A building of a skeletal system using cuts out of all the bones will be shared.
A play-dough mat activity will also be shared.
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
The Digestive System
Students will learn all the steps in the process of food digestion even before the food is ingested. They will learn about each organ involved in the digestive system. They will learn how the food is ingested, broken down, nutrients are absorbed and finally waste eliminated from the body. Students will also learn about the different categories of food they must eat and in how much quantity in order to have a balanced diet.
A Review Notes worksheet will be shared.
A play-dough mat activity.
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
The Circulatory System
Students will learn the structure and functions of this system. They will learn about the structure and function of the heart, blood vessels and the blood.
Review Notes worksheet will be shared.
A circulatory system creating a model activity will be shared.
A play-dough mat activity will also be shared.
45 mins online live lesson

Parental Guidance
There is nothing in the subject matter that may potentially not be age-appropriate, or objectionable to parents or that touch on sensitive questions. This class is taught in an age appropriate manner and does not take into account sensitive parts and issues. The class is focused on only learning the different organ parts, their systems and their functions.
Supply List
Students are welcome to bring a sheet of paper and note down important points in class. This is not a requirement because a 'Review Note Sheet' will be shared after the class.:)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
