US Grade 7 - 9
Whether you became interested in learning more about Japanese culture after watching anime, reading manga or a trip to Japan for vacation, or whether you simply enjoy learning about different cultures around the world, any of this set of four Life in Modern Japan classes is a great place to start. You can take any singular class series from one to four or a combination, they do not have to be taken in sequence! They can serve as a supplement to a homeschool social studies curriculum, or be taken just for fun! In Life in Modern Japan 4, our topics will be Japanese mythology, weather, sports, and houses. In week one, we will learn about creatures in Japanese mythology, and how links to ancient superstitions can sometimes be seen in Japanese popular culture and language today. In week two, we will learn about the weather in Japan, from what it is like to live in a country with a yearly rainy season to the vast difference in climate between northern and southern Japan. In week three, we will learn about which sports are the most popular in Japan, including sports that originated in Japan like sumo and imported sports like baseball. In week four, we will learn about what the interiors of some ordinary Japanese houses and apartments might look like, and ways that living in them may be different or similar to ordinary houses and apartments in your country. The topics in the other Life in Modern Japan classes are below, so that you can compare and select the class series you're most interested in!: Life in Modern Japan 1: Japanese animals, geography, daily life, and language Life in Modern Japan 2: food, religion, customs, and fun & games Life in Modern Japan 3: holidays, clothing, medieval Japan, and art
