1 hour per week. I will provide an optional pdf packet. Students can use the packet to practice their letter names and sounds after class. The packet is full of many different activities each week. Students can do one page, a few pages, or all the pages in the packet.

In this ongoing class, students will practice letter names and sounds. The content does not build upon each other so you can join any time. 

                           *** This class is ESL-friendly. ***


***** BACKGROUND *****
Students must be fluent in their letter sounds before they can learn how to decode words effectively. Students must also be fluent in their letter names before they can easily learn how to spell. This course gives students practice in becoming fluent with the letter names and letter sounds. 

***** CLASS OVERVIEW *****
Each week, students will practice all letter names and sounds. Students will do a variety of fun activities and games to practice the letter names and sounds. There will be a different theme each week as students review the letter names and sounds.

       - Name letters
       - Say letter sounds
       - Practice writing letters
       - Match letters to their correct sound

Students need to have some knowledge of the letter names and their sounds.

      - Need practice in their letter names and sounds

      - Introduce the letter sounds and letter names
      - Learn how to read words

***** CLASS BREAKDOWN *****
Each week, students will do a variety of activities to practice their letter names and sounds. This class is full of interactive games and activities to keep students engaged and learning at the same time. 

        ** Letter Sound Check **
In each class, students will do a letter sound check by saying each letter’s sound. 

        ** Letter Names **
Students will do a letter naming activity. In this activity, students will practice naming the letters. They will also practice naming the lowercase letters and the uppercase letters. These activities will vary each week. This activity could include a letter sort, letter matching, letter maze, etc. 

        ** Letter Writing Activity **
Students will do an activity where they will practice writing different letters. Some of these activities will include Letter Hide and Seek, Letter Search and Find, etc. 

        ** Letter Game **
Students will play a letter game. They will play a different letter game each week. During the game, students will name letters and say the correct letter sound.

I will post any handouts needed for class in the classroom before each class. If you are unable to print the handouts, please have your learner bring a few pieces of paper to class.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Some of the optional packet activities include cut and glue activities. Students will be using scissors for these activities. Students need to be observed and may need some assistance when using the scissors. Most glue is not gluten-free and is not editable. Students should not place glue in their mouth. I use Google Slides to display each class's content. I screenshare my Google Slides presentations during class.
