In this one-time class, students will explore the art of poetry by describing things they love in new, creative ways.

Learning to love writing can happen in many different ways. In this class, young writers will be allowed to explore the freedom of poetry in order to encourage them on their writing journey. We will begin our class by reading a few poems and discussing what we like about certain poetic devices such as rhyme and word sounds. Then each student will be guided through creative prompts to write a poem or two about things they really love. All that is necessary is a pencil and some paper! No...
Students will be introduced to the genre of poetry and its connection to emotions. Students will be introduced to a four poetic forms including free verse, haiku, limerick, and shape poems. Students will learn how to write to a prompt.
As a homeschool educator for over 11 years, I have experience in teaching writing for all ages. I am passionate about the power of poetry and have the experience to apply it to your student's writing development. I also received a Bachelor's Degree in English and Elementary Education.
