Class experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
This class will focus on encouraging writing and imagination. We will make use of sight words and these will be provided for each grade level (Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade). If other grade level sight words are needed please ask. This class is better with more students, so the more the better! Siblings, friends, other Outschool family etc. The more students the better experience of the class. We will start our live session with our writing journals, these will be provided to print out...
Students will improve their ability to use grade-level sight words as well as cultivate their love for story creation!
I have a masters in curriculum and Instruction, and have spent the last three years teaching in classrooms from the preschool level to the middle and high school level. I very much enjoy working with elementary students.
Homework Offered
Students will need to write a short story each week as homework that they are able to post and share!1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
3 files available upon enrollmentA sight words handout will be provided for grades K-2. A writing journal will be provided that can be printed out. Students will want to bring with them a pencil, eraser, and a form of a journal whether it's the one printed or their own personal journal.
Parents may want to work with students on sight words or spelling if needed. A class can be created that focuses just on sight and spelling words for grades K-2 if students feel that would help them with their writing. If your student is younger 5-6 you may want to provide art supplies if students need a break from writing for the whole time, they can illustrate their story, or a previous story, but will be encouraged to continue writing. I am pondering doing a specific writing course for kindergartners if interest is there.
