In this one time course , students will be introduced to ASL vocabulary essential for meeting new people and making friends.
Class experience
In this fun, introductory course, we will learn some of the essential signs used to meet new friends and communicate our emotions. We will use our voices in this course to sing songs and have interactive discussions while learning new signs. I am the owner of Maryland Conflict Resolution. I learned my ASL skills from having a brother who is deaf and interning at the American School for the Deaf. Please note, I do not have formal training in ASL, and there are many variations of signage based on the geographic location, age, demographics etc. I will teach based on Maryland Conflict Resolution trains students, educators, employers and employees about effective conflict resolution and communication skills. Furthermore, I have a Masters of Education in School Counseling and an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I create a nurturing and safe environment for students to discuss their ideas and opinions freely, and I have an understanding of the developmental stages children are in, and how to meet them at their level.
