50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This is ongoing class will be used to talk about all things Pokemon! We will get together and share our thoughts and ideas about Pokemon with other Poke Trainers! We will talk about the video game series, the anime cartoon show, Pokemon card (collecting and battling), Pokemon Go, toys, and whatever else we come up with related to Pokemon. Students are encouraged (but not required) to bring their favorite Pokemon products to class to show and talk about. Every student will get a chance to show off their items and ask questions. I personally have over 1000 Pokemon cards (some really rare and cool ones!), many toys, different video games, and Pokemon stuffed animals which I will show the class and we can talk about and share information and thoughts. This class will encourage public speaking, social interactions, question and answer type situations, and an environment to meet new friends with similar interests and passions. Each week we will have a different discussion topic to get us started and get the conversation flowing, but students are free to bring up anything related to Pokemon in class, and we will see where the discussion goes! It will be a very open-ended class where many different Pokemon topics will be covered. Week of 7/18 – Original 151 Pokemon – Show and tell Pokemon games, toys, cards, etc. Week of 7/25 – Pokemon Cards - Show and tell Pokemon games, toys, cards, etc. Week of 8/1 – Pokemon Games - Show and tell Pokemon games, toys, cards, etc. Week of 8/8 – Pokemon Go - Show and tell Pokemon games, toys, cards, etc. Although it is an ongoing course, students can join and leave at anytime and they will not be left behind! I will encourage everyone to participate in the discussion, but if your child is more comfortable just watching and listening, they will not be “forced” to participate. It will be a relaxing and fun place to share our love for Pokemon! *Image used is my own image of my own cards!*
Learning Goals
Students will practice and develop social skills through interaction with others with similar interests. Students will be encouraged to participate and show off their collections which will enhance their public speaking abilities.
