Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Who was the REAL George Washington? He was a man of many contradictions. He supported abolition of slavery, yet his plantation and position in society depended enslaved laborers. He longed to be at home working as a farmer at Mount Vernon, yet stayed on in the role as president for 2 terms. He never had any biological children of his own, yet became a father figure to many. He wasn't always a great general, but he was an excellent spymaster.

In this one time class, we will take a look at:

1. His childhood and relationship with his older half-brother, Lawrence
2. His participation in the Seven Years War
3. His relationship and marriage to Martha Custis Washington
4. His role as commander in chief of the Continental Army
5. His activities and policies during his two terms as president
6. His legacy and impact he left on the country
