In this Study Skills Course, we will practise note-taking, how to make a successful revision plan and how to revise. Please note, there is also an ongoing course. What will this course include? Week beginning 4/11/24 - Time Management - Research Skills - Cornell Note-Taking Method - Mind Map Note-Taking Method and How to Discuss and Share Our Ideas - Outline Note-Taking Method and Presentations Week beginning 11/11/24 - Making a Successful Revision Plan and How to Revise - Presentation Skills - Critical Thinking - Spelling Strategies Further classes will be added. What will be covered each week? Cornell Note-Taking Method Learners will learn about the Cornell note-taking with practical tasks which the learners complete and share their notes. Mind Map Note-Taking Method and How to Discuss and Share Our Ideas Learners will learn about the Mind Map Note-Taking Method and we will learn various tips and tricks to improve our note-taking skills and will put this into practice. Learners will share which tips they found beneficial to use and provide examples of them in the classroom. Outline Note-Taking Method and Presentations Learners will practise the Outline Note-Taking Method. Learners will put this into practice by preparing presentations and sharing them with other learners. Making a Successful Revision Plan and How to Revise Successfully Learners will make their own revision plan with the teacher's guidance through the pre-recorded video. Learners will share their revision plan and comment on whether they have stuck to it the following week. Learners will also learn how to revise successfully. They will complete a learning styles questionnaires and use this to guide how they best revise. Learners will share their findings in the classroom. Time Management Learners will practise time management. We will analyse how we currently spend our time and look at changes we can make. We will watch a video and make notes on effective time management skills. Research Skills Learners will practise research skills. We will analyse sources, ask good questions, and how to go beyond surface. These topics will be the culmination of our course and we will demonstrate everything we have learnt through a final project. We look forward to being part of your learning journey!
