In this class we will start with the "roots"; we will talk about Root Words. Student will have fun at the beginning of class moving around as we talk about the Root Words like "run, jump, hop". We will also introduce Suffixes and Prefixes; students will receive some instruction lecture style. Then we will do different activities to practice what we have learned. Students will have opportunities to talk with the teacher and their classmates. We will have fun playing a game; learning should be fun! Students will benefit from a knowledge of reading words with short and long vowel sounds.

Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
