Class Experience

START YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH CREATIVE CODING
In this workshop, Learners will begin their journey through Creative Coding!
We will use a program called Scratch which is available on the Scratch MIT website. 

COLOR AND CODE
The focus in this workshop will be Color and Code. 
Children will create brightly colored characters, then with a click of the mouse the color will change
How will make this happen? With code! 

WHAT IS SCRATCH?
Scratch is a block-based visual programming language especially developed for new and young Coders.
Using Scratch will equip your child with digital literacy skills: such as Coding, Problem Solving and Collaboration.

SCRATCH IS A LOT OF FUN!
It is very user friendly and allows kids to grasp coding concepts in a fresh and straightforward way.
As children create and experiment with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.
New and young learners can quickly become independent creators!

LET'S START FROM SCRATCH WORKSHOP OUTCOMES 
(1) Boost your child’s: Self-Esteem, Independence and Creativity. 
(2) Acquire skills and technical proficiency with Scratch coding blocks

Parental Guidance
(1) Prior to the workshop, please ensure you have created a user account for your Learner on the Scratch website at https://scratch.mit.edu/ Need some assistance - please message us ahead of time! (2) Parents can refer to Scratch's Parent page to find out more about Scratch at https://scratch.mit.edu/parents/ We will be guiding the students to create projects and games in Scratch.
Supply List
Scratch will run in most current web browsers on computer desktops, laptops and tablets. We use the Chrome browser in the classes. No cell phones please!

It is always a good idea to have some paper and pencils or markers on hand!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
