US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
In this class I want to focus on speaking with you! We will focus on elements of Spanish that are often difficult for native English speakers, such as the difference between 'ser' and 'estar', conjugating irregular and regular verbs in the present tense, reflexive verbs, verbs like 'gustar', possessive pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, future, and much more. My goal is to make you use these complex language structures and vocabulary comfortably as you speak. We'll do so by speaking, reading, asking questions, playing games, and, of course, studying grammar and vocabulary. Even though, this is a beginner class, previous knowledge of Spanish is required. The students should know how to introduce themselves in Spanish, ask basic questions, know the subject pronouns, numbers to 20 (at least), colors, some animals, and ability to have a basic conversation asking about name, age, etc. Each class will focus on an independent topic and we will practice the vocabulary in useful and conversational ways. This class will give your children a chance to practice the vocabulary they know, learn new words, and learn how to use them in conversation. My main goal is to make students comfortable speaking basic Spanish. I intend to give them the tools to become independent learners by emphasizing active learning and motiving them to learn! Please Note: *This is a foreign language class. While participation is not required it is a necessary element for student success. Please keep that in mind when enrolling. *All classes will begin on time as long as there is at least one learner in the classroom. If 10 minutes after start time there are no students in the class the teacher will exit the classroom. This class cannot be taught with no students, so no recordings will be available for classes with zero attendance.
Learning Goals
