Do you love rocks? Do you think rocks are cool? Are you a rock collector? Then this class is perfect for you! Come join us as we learn all about the different types of rocks and minerals. We will focus on a different topic in each class. Students will be involved in discussions and participate in multiple activities to help learn more about rocks and minerals. Hands-on activities will be included in each class session. Students will learn how to describe and sort rocks according to their attributes. They will also learn how rocks can be different shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. By the end of this class, students will be able to identify the different types of rocks. Students will be encouraged to bring any rocks or minerals to share at the end of each class. Session 1: What is a rock? Session 2: Igneous rocks Session 3: Sedimentary rocks Session 4: Metamorphic rocks Session 5: What are minerals?

Hello! My name is Amy and I have been a teacher for 20 years! I have taught early childhood and elementary grade levels, ESL students, college students, and adults through various institutions!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have a Master of Science degree in Educational and Instructional Technology. In addition, I am certified to teach Reading in grades K-8 and all Middle School subjects. I have also obtained my TESOL endorsement.
My philosophy of teaching combines a few different educational theories. I am a strong believer of constructivist and brain-based learning and incorporate both into my instruction. I want to make learning interesting, engaging, fun, and challenging so that students are excited to learn and are more engaged in their learning. I incorporate differentiated instruction and multiple methods of instruction to meet the diverse needs of the students. I also strive to create a learning environment that supports social emotional learning and competency. I use a variety of technological sources in many of my classes, including PowerPoint, YouTube, and other digital resources. I love to incorporate technology, music, and a variety of other teaching methods to help reach all learners!
I reside in Arizona, USA with my husband, 4 children, 3 dogs, and 2 guinea pigs! Reading is my favorite hobby and I love animals. My favorite place in the world is the beach and I love to swim!
I teach reading classes, book clubs, science classes, and other fun learning classes. I offer a wide variety of classes on Outschool. I will work hard to make sure your child enjoys my classes!
