This camp will help students revise the meaning of number, the four rules of number, and mental and written strategies for addition and subtraction. We will also revise money and length in the context of addition and subtraction problems. This camp is designed to help students in upper primary/elementary school review key concepts in number, addition, and subtraction so that they grow both in understanding and confidence. Each day will include an icebreaker, a game, and time spent discussing and working with the main topic. I use lots of practical examples and discussion to help students engage with the topic concretely before moving toward abstract problems. My class will be conversational, upbeat, and as visual and hands on as possible. Students will be encouraged to interact throughout the class, contributing to the discussion, actively working problems, and sharing their thought processes.
