Let's Read in French! This course is perfect for new French students who have no experience in the French alphabet and sounds and are ready to move on to reading words and sentences. This course is perfect for a child in Preschool, Kindergarten, or First Grade who is ready to begin reading. Students are introduced to new books with different themes selected. LESSON PLAN 1) Warmup activities : --> Teacher will get the students to discuss warm-up questions --> Teacher will introduce the vocabulary that will be introduced in the book --> Teacher will review the French vowels and French sounds 2) Reading : --> Teacher will start the reading with the students of the entire book --> Teacher will encourage students to repeat the sentences for students to practice their fluency 3) Follow-up Activity: --> Students will be instructed to work on directed, fluency activities related to the reading --> Each activity is designed to reinforce reading and listening comprehension WEEKLY CLASS BOOK TOPICS (Keep in mind that the books may change) : Class 1 (Week of May 2) : Les animaux de compagnie (Domestic Pets) Class 2 (Week of May 9) : Les animaux de la ferme (Farm Animals) Class 3 (Week of May 23) : L'été (Domestic Pets) Class 4 (Week of May 30) : L'hiver (Winter) Class 5 (Week of June 6) : Ma Famille (My Family) *** This is a working outline of the course. Learning Goals
By the end of the session students will be able to :
➤ Follow words from left to right, top to bottom and page to page.
➤ Name all the upper and lower case letters.
➤ Recognize rhyming words.
➤ Count, say, blend and break apart words that are spoken.
➤ Identify the front cover, back cover and title of a book.
➤ Read sight words, e.g. the, of, you, are.
➤ Recognize and say the sounds of the letters.
