By the end of each book, students will have gained insights into different individuals or situations, fostering empathy or allowing them to relate the story to their own experiences.

In my previous position as a college instructor, I frequently assigned memoirs as required reading for my family services classes. This approach enabled students to delve into real-life experiences rather than solely relying on textbooks. We then engaged in discussions about the readings and explored how they could be relevant to both personal and professional aspects of their lives. Now, as I transition to working with younger students, my goal remains the same: to offer them opportunities to explore diverse people and experiences. By introducing them to graphic novels tailored for tweens, I aim to provide enjoyable and educational group discussions.

Homework Offered
The "homework" for this class is just to read the assigned pages before each session.  The number of hours spent will vary depending on each child's reading and comprehension abilities.
