4 in-class hoursClass Experience
This class is the second level of the Let's Play Recorder course. It is recommended that enrolled students complete Level 1 first unless they have prior recorder playing experience. For day 1 of this class, students should be able to accurately play the notes G, A, B, C, and D, and be comfortable playing at least two short songs, such as Hot Cross Buns and Ode to Joy. Like Level 1, this class meets twice a week for four weeks. The goal each work is to have students play as often as possible! Students will have ample opportunities to create melodies using the skills they are learning. Week 1: We will review concepts learned during Level 1 and have fun improvising melodies using our first five notes. We will begin reading rhythm patterns, and learn two new notes: low E and D. Weeks 2 and 3: We will continue developing our rhythm reading skills and begin learning new songs using the newly learned notes. Week 4: We will wrap up the session this week with a mini performance. By the end students should have a minimum of eight notes that they can accurately play and know between five and ten songs (including those from Level 1.) They should be able to comfortably read simple rhythm patterns between four and eight beats.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello parents,
I teach music classes for all ages, many of which can be taken without prior music experience. I also offer math tutoring and in the future hope to offer creative writing classes. Before coming to Outschool, I taught general music and band in public schools, as well as tutoring students in math and language arts.
I hold a master's degree in music composition, and a bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. For over twenty years I have written music for a variety of instruments and genres. I have also been a regular performer in classical, rock, blues, and jazz bands as a tubist, trombonist, and bass guitarist.
Former principals have described me as "awesome" and "a blessing" to my students, and I always strive to create a learning environment where they feel supported, safe, and happy.
Besides music, my hobbies include video games and writing fiction. I even wrote a fantasy novel ten years ago!
