Class Experience

This class is open to beginner and intermediate level violin students who have a basic understanding of how to hold the violin and bow and placement of the left hand in first position.

Pachelbel’s Canon in D is a well—known melody that is played all over the world. The fact that it can be played with lots of variations over the same base melody makes it an interesting piece of music for all levels.

In this class, I will start by demonstrating the base melody of descending fifths. Then, I will introduce the popular variations on the melody, including faster rhythms and note variety.
A range of levels is welcome, as everyone will be able to play the main basic melody.
I will address any specific questions and give individual attention to each student.

The goal for this class is that the students will know how to play and practice Canon in D by ear.

Sheet music will also be given to all students for music reading purposes if requested.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! :)
I am thrilled to be here and to share the joy of music-making!
I am a professional violinist and pianist, and I hold multiple music performance degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In my career, I have performed in multiple competitions, international music festivals, and solo recitals on both instruments.
I am a graduate of The Orchestra Now program in New York, where I performed concerts in venues across the state, including Carnegie Hall and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I have also performed as artist with Lincoln Center Stage and performed concerts in over 25 countries.
Here are some of my performances on piano and violin! https://youtube.com/channel/UCJAi505tF-PqweHiJ-m4m7g

My goal as a music teacher is to inspire and bring out the best in each student, by addressing concepts clearly and efficiently, while also tailoring lessons to each student’s individual needs and learning styles.
I want to teach in a way that is always fun and inspiring for each student!

In the courses I am offering, I cover a wide spectrum of core music-making concepts that suit a wide range of levels. I also address the specifics of the violin and piano, so that mastery of the instrument can be built up step by step, in an organized and direct approach. Unique to my own style of teaching is the emphasis I put on efficient, ergonomic, and natural body movement in playing an instrument, which was informed by years of study in the Alexander Technique. Through freedom of movement and strong habits of awareness, the act of playing music can be even more enjoyable, fun, and inspiring!!

Some fun facts:
I am a lifelong learner, which currently manifests in studying languages, chess, and cooking! Food, especially anything involving noodles, is one of my most favorite things!
I also love taking care of my two red-eared slider turtles, Bonnie and Clyde! :)
