I will continually be assessing my students throughout each class. I also enjoy asking students different questions so I know they are understanding the material.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
What will be taught? -In this class, students will learn and/or review the names of American coins and paper bills. We will use those skills to do some pretend shopping. Each student will have a certain amount of virtual money and will be able to pretend shop. Students will get a chance to interact with each other throughout the class. What topics will you cover? The topic for this class is learning about the value of U.S. money and how to use money to buy things. This includes pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills. How is your class structured? -I provide a safe classroom environment free from any fighting and/or bullying. Students are encouraged to ask questions as we learn. I also ask students comprehension questions throughout the lesson to make sure they understand the material. How will you teach? -I teach using power point slides. In this power point lesson, I include interactive games, You Tube videos, songs and story books about coin counting. What's your teaching style? -As a teacher, I understand that every student learns and thinks differently. That’s why I include interactive games, songs, worksheets and even short stories about counting coins. I use 'positive reinforcement' to encourage my students using verbal praise, high-fives, rewards and a prize box. Students will also have opportunities to ask questions and interact with the teacher as well as their classmates. I will never have more than six students in a class. I find that students work and learn better in smaller class sizes. All students are welcome! How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? -Students are encouraged to ask questions and help each other if needed. Any required experience or knowledge learners need? -Students should be familiar with each U.S. coin (penny, nickel, dime and quarter.) We review everything throughout the class!
Learning Goals
Students will practice money recognition and how to add and subtract money when paying for things. This information will be reinforced throughout the lesson using pictures, games, songs and worksheets.

Hello Outschool family!
I am currently teaching over 12 different classes right now on Outschool. These classes help with math skills, reading/writing skills, adding/subtracting counting, multiplying/dividing money, value of money, how to write a good paragraph, creative writing, career options and "Jeopardy Multiplication."
I've been a teacher/tutor for over 10 years. I've also had the unique opportunity to work side by side with some amazing educators both in public and private schools. My teaching philosophy is simple, 'every student learns and processes information differently.' As a teacher, it is my job to figure out what style works best for your child's individual needs. I also use positive reinforcement in my classes. This can include anything from verbal praise to games and prizes! Overall, I try and provide a fun, safe and educational classroom where students can learn, grow and have fun in the process. You can read more about me and my qualifications on my Outschool page.
