Listening, moving and expressing can help you be well and healthy! In this engaging and interactive class, students will listen to music, move to it, and then express themselves through both movement and their words and sounds. Based on the Reggio Emilia approach, I will be using educational philosophy and pedagogy focusing on student-centered and constructivist self-guided curriculum that uses self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. Reggio Emilia approach is based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration, discovery and play. I will play a piece of music and they will listen and move to it and express themselves through sounds and then words. Students will learn the basics of acting through their senses of listening, moving and expressing themselves based on the music they hear. Each class there will be a different piece of music played. As a group, we will express ourselves and then at the end of class we will meet up and discuss the journey we have just been on, what feelings came up and how we expressed it. Students will learn how to use their bodies as an instrument to tell a story which also helps them manage and release their emotions in a creative and healthy way. This is the music that will inspire us to move: March and April--magic music May and June--happy music July and August--animal music September and October--sky, ocean and earth music November and December--mythical creature music January and February--fast and slow music

Hello Students!
My name is Christina. I am half Spanish and half American. I live in Los Angeles. I grew up traveling the world. I lived in Germany for 6 years as a child. I speak Spanish. I am a former pre-school and elementary school teacher with over 10 years experience who taught in the US, Spain and England.

I love teaching. The things I love teaching the most are making up a story and acting it out, how to speak in a British accent, play acting in a British accent, and moving and acting to music, as well as Spanish and Shakespeare.
I am an actress in LA. In LA, have been on network TV shows such as Good Trouble, American Housewife, Transparent and Criminal Minds. In London, I have extensive professional theatre experience. I performed in many Shakespearean plays such as The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, As You Like It, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, to name a few as well as several Oscar Wilde plays, Restoration plays such as The Country Wife, and contemporary plays such as The Shape of Things and Three Birds Alighting on a Field along many others.
I have my teacher's certification for pre-school and elementary school with an ESL endorsement. I also have a double BA in English Literature and Anthropology from the University of Virginia. I graduated from Drama Studio London, in the UK where I was awarded the Peter Howitt scholarship. I also attended RADA in London.
