This class is for students that are interested in making cool stuff. that can be used in video games, animated movies, or 3D printing. Students will learn the basic principles and tools used for 3D modeling. During this class, students will use Blender to learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling. We will cover vocabulary terms and discuss the different parts that make up a 3D shape (edges, faces, and vertices). We will learn Blender's tools, how to navigate in a 3D space, and how to create, move, rotate, scale objects, and modify objects by using the bevel, extrude, inset, and loop cut tools. Students will then put those concepts to use by modeling a spaceship alongside the teacher. Students are encouraged to ask and answer questions and help each other with problem-solving as they work on their spaceships. Students are encouraged to share their creations at the end of class. Classes sizes are kept small so that individual instruction can be given to each student as needed during each session.
Learning Goals
My goal is to introduce students to 3D modeling in a fun and interactive environment.
Students will learn to create move, rotate, scale, and add modifiers to shapes while learning to navigate in a 3D space. They will be introduced to the various 3D tools we use to sculpt our spaceship.
Breaking objects down into basic shapes
Developing an eye for scale and proportion.
Thinking creatively

Supply List
Students must download and install Blender before the first day of class. If you have problems installing please send me a message on Outschool and I will try to help. I highly recommend students use a second monitor or a secondary device for zoom as they will need to see the teacher's screen and their own at the same time. Hardware Requirements: A three-button mouse (left mouse, right mouse, and a scroll wheel) THIS IS REQUIRED! Keyboard A desktop or Computer that meets the following minimum system requirements for Blender. (Any computer from the last 5-9 years should work) 64-bit dual-core 2Ghz CPU with SSE2 support 4 GB RAM 1280×768 display Mouse, trackpad or pen+tablet Graphics card with 1 GB RAM, OpenGL 3.3 Less than 10 years old

Hi, my name is Christopher Walls.
I believe learning should be fun, interactive, and engaging. Classes should be hands-on.
I am a professional 3D modeler and teach ESL online. I have been working as a 3D modeler for over 13 years. I work for a company that makes air traffic control simulators. I get to make video games that train and educate people I love it so much. I have always had a passion for video games and making cool things I am excited to share my knowledge with others who want to make cool things.
I have been working with kids in some capacity for most of my life. I have worked as a summer camp counselor for over 10 years. In college I volunteered at a local high school where I taught students how to use photoshop, make websites and 3D models. I have 3 years of experience teaching online as an English teacher to foreign students.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida (2005) with a BA in Digital Media and a Masters Degree (2007) in Modeling and Simulation.
