Class Experience

When you're an aspiring painter, it's important that you know how to make any color that you can imagine. While the color wheel can help with that, understanding the fundamentals of black and white paints is important, too! That's what this class aims to cover.

Using only Titanium White, Mars Black, and a color of the student's choice, we'll learn how to create monochromatic scales together in this one-time class! Mixing black and white paints can be challenging, but once a student understands the basics, they'll be able to create any shade of grey, or color, that they choose to!

To join this class, minimal experience is required. All that's asked is that students understand how to use a paintbrush, as well as clean one. This will help in keeping things tidy on their monochromatic scales.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to mix black and white paints in order to create different shades of grey. This knowledge will then be applied to creating a single-color scale, as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Art is a lifelong passion, and my journey with art started in middle school. I have worked in many different media, but my favorites are sketching, drawing, and photography. I’ve been keeping sketchbooks for nearly 20 years, and they’ve helped me document my journey with art, as well as important milestones in my life. I want to help learners find their artistic passion and help them do the same.
