Class Experience

In this ongoing class, we will learn Spanish vowel and letter sounds, and will also learn to connect letter sounds. We will also learn to make proper letter pronunciation.

We will work on all the Spanish alphabet and will put a special focus on those Spanish letters that have different sounds from English letters.

We will focus on the letter sound, not the letter name.

This class is excellent to help students with their Spanish pronunciation as we focus on the proper letter/vowel sounds.

Note: To take this class, students must know the letter sounds of the English alphabet. They must be able to write the letters of the alphabet. This class is an A1 level based on the CEFR.

I will first introduce the letter, modeling its sound and providing students with multiple opportunities of practice. We will practice it through a fun song and class exercises.
Then, we will make different letter combinations to be able to read from letters to syllables to words and to short sentences.
We will also reinforce learning through games and lots of fun practice.

This class meets once a week, but the classes or themes DO NOT build on each other, as we will focus on a specific letter each class so if you miss a class, you can jump right back in! The topics will cycle back to the beginning once completed.

My classes are limited to five students so that each one will have an equal opportunity to practice and receive timely correction. I am a native Spanish speaker and an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certified teacher. I am an energetic, friendly, and patient teacher.

I can't wait to help you read in Spanish and have fun!

¡Hola! My name is Profesora Mary, and I am excited to help your child learn Spanish.

I truly love working with children with my puppet friends: Pancho, Beto, Moño, and Lucía. Your child will love learning Spanish — at their pace — while playing games and singing songs with me and my friends. Your child will also have fun through my use of many props, including puffy animals, toys and more.

My ultimate goal when I teach is to make sure that my students obtain the skills to communicate in Spanish. I do this while making sure that my students have fun while learning. My class activities help students connect the learning material to their own world, facilitating language acquisition.

Teaching and learning languages are two of my passions. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to combine them and make them my profession. There is no other job that I could enjoy more, and I love to share my enthusiasm and energy with students in my classes.

I have worked very hard to be a qualified teacher, and I have achieved this through online and in-person teaching experience and by obtaining a number of certificates related to language instruction and teaching young learners. I am a certified ELE (Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Teacher and a native Spanish speaker.

I am a mom and some of my hobbies include learning languages, making crafts and playing the flute.

I look forward to helping your child learn!
