In this fun and engaging one time course, students will learn sight words (I, the, can, see) by practicing spelling, reading, and writing these words through repetition, games, fluency practice, and reading a short reader.

There is no assigned homework for this age. However, I provide students with flashcards of the sight words. I encourage parents to review the sight words with their children. I also encourage parents to read often with their children and for children to be encouraged to read often.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this fun and engaging class your child will learn sight words (I, can, see, the). We will practice reading, spelling, and writing the words through games, fluency practice, and reading a short reader. I believe in an "I do, we do, you do" approach where I scaffold students to become more confident and independent as they learn. We will begin by repeating the words as I read them. Together we will play games as we read, write, and spell the words. Students will begin to read independently as we practice fluency and read a short reader. Students will need paper and pencil or a whiteboard and marker (something to write the words on). They will also need a copy of the sight word flashcards for class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn sight words: I, can, see, the. They will learn to read them fluently. Students will read a short reader including these words.

Supply List
I ask student to have paper/pencil or a whiteboard/marker for writing the sight words on. I also ask them to have a copy of the flash cards for class. I will provide flashcards for parents to print off.

Hi! My name is Jenilee and I LOVE teaching! I have made it my goal to understand how all kids learn and how they learn best. I have two Bachelor's Degrees (Elementary Education and Special Education-Learning and Behavior Disorders). I also have a Master's Degree with a specialty in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
