Class Experience

Do you love Science? In this Ongoing Class, learners will explore a range of Science subjects in a fun and interactive way. This course aims to provide meaningful learning experiences for young explorers.

Each class will include a range of teaching methods and activities that are designed to engage the learners in both a hands-on and minds-on way. Classes will include experiments, Q&A, quizzes, games, worksheets, videos and much more. Some classes will include breakout rooms.  Learners will be encouraged to observe, explore, question and share what they learn. A variety of methods are used to support learners and cater for different learning styles and needs.

Week of 1/4/24 - Introduction to Genetics - study of heredity and variation
Week of 8/4/24 - Introduction to Genetics - basic genetic concepts, such as DNA, genes, and chromosomes
Week of 15/4/24 - Introduction to Genetics - DNA extraction activity: hands-on extraction of DNA from fruits or vegetables
Week of 22/4/24 - Mendelian Genetics - Mendel's laws of inheritance
Week of 29/4/24 - Mendelian Genetics - dominant and recessive traits, genotype, and phenotype
Week of 6/5/24 - Mendelian Genetics - Punnett square simulation activity: predicting the outcomes of genetic crosses
Week of 13/5/24 - DNA Structure and Replication - DNA structure, including the double helix and nucleotide base pairs
Week of 20/5/24 - DNA Structure and Replication - DNA replication and the role of enzymes
Week of 27/5/24 - DNA Structure and Replication - DNA model-building activity: constructing models to demonstrate DNA structure
