In this one-time class, students will enter the world of creative writing! Your child will learn the following figurative language, metaphors, similes and personification. Figurative language is a wonderful way to make writing more exciting for the writer and the reader! We will learn the definition and view many examples of the figurative language in use. After students become familiar with the devices they will have an opportunity to use them in their own writing using a picture as inspiration. If time allows students will then share out loud with one another what they wrote and receive positive feedback to help encourage. Each student will be allowed speaking time and this class will be interactive with the student actively participating throughout. *A printable sheet with the image that will be used and space to write will be provided at least 1 hour before class begins.

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
