Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
This is a flex course, meaning there will be no live meetings. This is perfect for an exam preparation class as learners can prepare at their own rate with the support of the teacher and other learners. This course helps learners to prepare for the Cambridge First Certificate English Examination. Each week will include a range of activities to help learners to prepare for each of the skills areas - Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Each week will include input from the teacher on vocabulary, grammar and other areas whilst ensuring that the course is interactive through collaboration in the classroom on a variety of tasks. By the end of Monday (UK time) each week, materials including the teaching video will be uploaded to the classroom. Each week will include exam task practice, input to help learners improve to pass the exam successfully and feedback from the teacher and other learners on completed projects and tasks. This course uses the Complete First for Schools book by Guy Brook-Hart (Cambridge Second Edition). This is an B2 course for the revised exam from 2015. What is covered in this course? Week 1 - Family 🔹Writing an essay 🔹Listening to conversations 🔹Expressing opinions using although, however, on the other hand and whereas 🔹Using present perfect simple and continuous Week 2 - Leisure 🔹 Writing an article using compound and complex sentences 🔹 Listening to a talk 🔹Talking about free-time activities using phrasal verbs and expressions 🔹Using adjectives and making comparisons Week 3 - Holidays 🔹Writing a story 🔹Listening to different people talking about holidays 🔹Talking about holidays using adjective suffixes 🔹Using past simple, paste continuous and used to Week 4 - Food 🔹Writing a review 🔹Listening to an interview 🔹Talking about food using adjectives 🔹Using so and such, too and enough Week 5 - Study 🔹Writing about the set text 🔹Listening to people talking about studying 🔹 Talking about study with phrasal verbs and forming nouns from verbs 🔹Using conditionals Week 6 - Jobs 🔹Writing a letter or email 🔹Listening to a people talking about their jobs 🔹Talking about jobs using collocations 🔹Using countable and uncountable nouns and articles. A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner. After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom. Participation will include the Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practise and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays. The videos will be available for the length of the course.
