Let's Learn English is a 1:1 ELL / ESL language course for ages 6-11 who have at least A1 English level proficiency. This course is intended to aid English language learners in becoming proficient and to support native learners who need English language reinforcement. This is an American English language course taught with a North American accent. Lessons are designed to last either 25 minute, but there is 50 minute option if that is more fitting to the learner's needs. The curriculum, Oxford's "American Family and Friends", provides a balanced leveled approach to language acquisition through speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This structured yet flexible approach ensures that every learner's unique learning style is supported. Each lesson incorporates songs, stories, phonics, and interactive activities . I try to be attentive to the learner's pronunciation of the words and whether the learner is comprehending the material provided. This is a progressive course that builds on skills and knowledge from previous lessons. The curriculum includes six levels, each designed to meet the needs of learners as they advance. The first lesson is a trial lesson. Each trial lesson begins with a brief assessment to identify your child’s specific strengths and areas for growth. Then we will do some brief introductions and read a leveled story together. In the subsequent lessons we will follow a structure similar to the following. Sample Lesson Structure: Trial Lesson: Begins with a brief assessment to identify the learner’s specific strengths and areas for growth. Includes brief introductions and reading a leveled story together. ---> Subsequent Lessons: Follow a structured approach: -Introduce topic and vocabulary. -Reinforce with phonics, songs, or chants. -Read or listen to a related story. -Engage in subject-based vocabulary activities. Example Weekly Lesson Plan for A1 English Language Learners: # Unit 1 - Lesson 1: Introduce Topic: What’s this? School Things --Vocabulary: Pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, book. --Activity: Listen to and read a dialogue about "School Things" and complete a related activity sheet. # Lesson 2: --Review story from the previous week. --Learn Sentence Structure: "What’s this? It’s a (pen)." --Activity: Identify school objects using the sentence structure. # Lesson 3: --Vocabulary: Bag, folder, window, door, bookcase. --Activity: Sing a song with the target vocabulary words, play a vocabulary game, and complete word exercises. # Lesson 4: --Phonics: Introduce letters A, B, C, D and their associated sounds. --Activity: Identify words with those sounds.
