In interior design, there are many factors that are carefully considered in order to create a specific look for an individual room in a home, office, or other environment. This class will introduce your student to the many factors and elements of interior design. Concepts include types of interior design, design styles, design concepts, steps to designing a room, career opportunities, and more.
Each week I will post videos teaching the topics listed below, as well as a pdf of the assignments to be completed. These assignments are merely teaching the student to take notes as they follow along with each lesson, allowing them to have a complete binder to reference once the class is over.
Midweek I will also post a challenge assignment, allowing students to interact with each other while discussing interior design. Some weeks we may break down a photo of a room and discuss what is working or what isn't working. Another week I will post a room and send them on a hunt to find the perfect accessory to complete the room. By the end of the class each student will have designed a room of their choosing.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I began developing my own curriculum to teach my children way back in 2002. That first lapbook unit study turned into hundreds more and took me all over the country speaking to parents about the benefits of hands-on learning. My kids have since graduated and while the curriculum is still for sale at In the Hands of a Child, I wanted to bring it live to Outschool so students with parents who don't have the time to plan lapbooks can still benefit from them.
