In this fun and engaging one-time class, students will learn the fundamentals of addition using mental math strategies.
Class experience
In this fun and interactive class, students will learn the basic skills of addition. I will introduce "Gus the Plus" and discuss important math terms and what it means to add. Math vocabulary words that we will cover include: Addition, Equal sign, Equation, Sum. The students will also be introduced to different strategies (number bonds, ten-frame) to find the solution to an addition equation. Students will use manipulatives, drawing, games, writing expressions and equations to practice...
Students will gain exposure to addition facts. Students will learn to solve simple math problems. Students will learn to take turns and work in a group. Students will improve their math skills using different math strategies.
