Class Experience

Beginner Level
This fun and creative class will teach young learners how to use a knitting loom to make a variety of yarn projects. During class, we will be using a round loom to knit a fun hat with or without a Pom-pom. In this class, students will learn the basics of loom knitting from the different types of looms to reading the label to determine the weight and length of the yarn. We will briefly discuss the knit variations that can be used to create more involved future projects such as sweaters and animal toys.

Step by step, students will learn how to cast on using the double e-wrap method. Then, we will use the class time to practice casting on, begin knitting the hat using the flat knit method, and discuss methods for fixing common beginner errors. Toward the end of class, I will demonstrate how to change colors, bind off using the gathered removal method and also how to use the Pom-pom maker for those who elect to step up the cuteness factor to their hat.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Although not an art teacher, crafting has always been a creative outlet for me and came in handy in the classroom as an early childhood educator. In addition to knitting, I also sew, crochet and scrapbook when time permits. Teaching these skills allows me share my passion and skills with the newest generation of creative crafters.
