Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
This class will meet twice weekly for 3 weeks. For each class, we will add 4-5 letters. This is a class for learners who are just being introduced to their letters/phonics. (If this twice-a-week class does not fit your schedule, I offer a FLEX version class.)
I will loosely use the child-friendly phonics program, Letterland. Each letter will be connected to a particular character and we will use songs about these letters/characters to enhance learning.

I will introduce letters in a non-traditional order (not in order) and more by how common they are used in short CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. This will help your child really learn the letters and not just memorize them.
For each letter, we will learn to recognize the letter, listen for the letter sound and practice forming the letter (upper and lowercase). When focusing on the letter sound, I will ask the learners to search for items on the screen that start with that sound (b-ball, c-cake).
At the end of class, we will close class with an activity/worksheet that focuses on one of the letters from that particular class.

The letter schedule is below. Please note it can change slightly depending on time, learners' names and interests.
Week 1: p, a, s, t, g, e, m, r, h
Week 2: i, w, l, o, c, b, d, q, u
Week 3: y, v, j, n, k, z, f, x, y
Learning Goals
Learners will have a better understanding of letter identification, sounds and formation.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I taught Kindergarten and first grade for four years using the Letterland program. It is AMAZING! It makes learning fun and is a way for your child to be introduced to letters/phonics where they can relate and remember what they are leaning. They quickly will be singing the songs and identifying characters.
