Let's Get Ready for Fourth Grade! Summer Review & Prep Camp 🥳 In this 8-week, once-a-week class, we will review all third-grade math, grammar, and reading skills in a fun summer camp atmosphere. We will keep our writing skills fresh with a sentence writing game each class time. 💲💲 Coupon Code: BAUSTSMR2410 💲💲 $10 off the course!! WHAT MAKES MY REVIEW CLASSES DIFFERENT: 1. I use REAL LITERATURE AND STUDENT INTERACTION for our reading skills. It is not reading worksheets, but stories the children will love and guided questions and discussion with me. 2. I use the SPIRAL APPROACH TO AVOID LEARNING LOSS as much as possible. 3. Taught by a CERTIFIED TEACHER WITH 25+ YEARS EXPERIENCE teaching grades 3-5 with a Bachelors and MASTERS DEGREE IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION. 4. We have FUN!!! Games, Games, and more Games! New, Fun and Different!! 🎯 Benefits of spiral review vs. skill-only instruction: I am a firm believer in keeping skills fresh through spiraling reviews. If I teach a skill during the first class, then we do not revisit it, then, the students will struggle to retain this skill until the beginning of the new school year. So, not only will we review grammar and math skills through spiral review, but the reading skills will also be reviewed in each class. I have just listed the reading skills that will be highlighted each week. I will also stop and have a lesson on any particular math or grammar skill that I see students need a refresher lesson on. MATH FACTS WILL BE REVIEWED WEEKLY. ⏰ Class Structure: Classes will be run more like a summer camp than a classroom. We will start each class with a grammar review game and a math review game. I will take the spiraling approach, meaning we will review most third-grade skills each class time during these games. Class time will then be spent reading a picture book or chapter from a novel. The students will practice reading fluency, comprehension, & third-grade reading skills in a spiraling approach. We will finish each class with a story sentence game to practice writing skills! 🎯 Class Expectations: Students should be kind and courteous to one another. Students should be supportive and encouraging. Fun, laughter, and energy are always wanted and encouraged, but they should remain focused on our class content. Please come to class prepared with the Hundreds chart printed out from the class packet and a great attitude! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 📚 Third Grade Skills covered during the spiraling review each class: 💥 Grammar: nouns (including singular, plural, and proper), verbs (including action, helping, linking, main, agreement, and tenses), adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, commas, titles, abbreviations, dialogue, conjunctions, capitalization, and punctuation of sentences. 💥 Math: place value to 100,000, add and subtract up to five digits, round and compare numbers, time to the minute, measurement to cm and in, volume and mass, bar graphs, picture graphs, line plots, basic 2D and 3D shapes, triangles, quadrilaterals, angles, perimeter, area, fractions of a group and a whole, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions with like numerators or denominators, multiplication concepts, facts, and mental math to 100, division concepts, and fact. 💥 Reading- Fiction: characters, setting, main idea, key details and events, predictions, inferences, problem & solution, sequencing, themes, point of view, and cause/effect. Non-Fiction: main idea, key details, events, reading graphs, charts, and pictures. 💥 Sentence writing: types of sentences, subject and predicate included, adding details, capital to start, ending punctuation, avoiding run-ons or fragments. See the Syllabus for more details. Prerequisites: ✅ Students should have completed third-grade coursework. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🐶 My Classroom and Teaching Style: My goal is to make learning as happy 🥳 and stress-free as possible! My classroom is fast paced and interactive. It is a kind, caring, supportive, productive, silly, and just a little bit crazy kind of space! I want students to love class and enjoy showing up to learn with me. Students can only learn when they feel comfortable and safe! I provide that environment for my students, then watch as their learning soars! I will meet each student where he or she is and move them forward.
Learning Goals
Students will have solid third-grade grammar, reading, and math skills and be ready to transition to fourth grade successfully.
