Class Experience
In this private course, learners will develop their maths skills. This course is part of a six year primary maths course that takes a problem-solving approach to teaching young learners the skills they need to become confident mathematicians. This course contains a greater focus on the use of manipulatives in the classroom, pictorial and abstract representations to promote deeper learning, language support to help EAL students develop fluency in mathematical language. In this class, you can work on some of the following topics with your teacher: Counting and Estimating - Number lines - 10 more of less - Missing numbers - Money - Estimating Multiplication and Division - Sharing - Grouping Measures - Length and weight - Estimating capacity - Comparing and describing Shapes - 2D Shapes - 3D Shapes - Symmetry - Position and Movement Time - Ordering events - Days of the week - Telling the time Handling Data - Block Graphs - Pictograms, lists and tables - Venn diagrams - Carroll diagrams Numbers and Counting - Counting objects - Counting rhymes and actions - Reading and writing numbers Exploring Numbers - More and less - Between - Tens and ones - Ordering numbers Number Pairs and Addition - Number pairs for 6,7,8,9 - Number pairs for 10 - Combining sets - Counting on Subtraction and Difference - Taking Away - Counting back - Finding the difference Number Patterns - Even and odd - Doubles and halves - Near doubles This course uses Oxford International Primary Maths 6 - Tony Cotton, Caroline Clissold, Linda Glithro, Cherri Moseley, Janet Rees.
