Let's Draw Cute Cats Together!
In this one-time course, we will look at examples of depictions of cats in art history, find reference images to work from, and learn to break down the complex form of a cat into simple parts.

Beginner Level
In this class, we will look at images of cats in art history, as well as photos of cats, to see the various ways that cats can be drawn and painted. Then, I will demonstrate the basics of drawing a cat in different positions, and have students follow along. Finally, students will be challenged to come up with a cat "character" - a happy cat, tired cat, mischievous cat, etc., and add their own interpretation of a cat of their choice.
Learning Goals
Students will practice comparing and contrasting images of cats in art history.
Students will learn the basics of breaking a complex form into simpler parts for drawing.

I am a practicing artist and art teacher, with several years of experience drawing from life - including my own two cats, Maisie and Tutu. I have taught drawing to students of all ages. In addition, I have a master's degree in Fine Arts, and hold a Private Academic Teaching Certification in Art K-12 in the state of Pennsylvania.
