Let's Draw Bugs, Reptiles, and Animals
Class experience
In this ongoing class we will draw a different subject each week. We will draw a variety of wildlife including vertebrates and invertebrates. Every four weeks, we will rotate through a drawing of a new reptile/amphibian, insect/invertebrate, small mammal, and large mammal. At the beginning of each class we will welcome any new students and give them a brief explanation of our process and then we will begin a guided drawing. We will use the concept of using basic shapes to block in a quick...
Students will improve their drawing skills by practicing on a new subject each week. By repeatedly using the method of starting with basic shapes, then using various techniques to add texture and detail, students will begin to be able to replicate it with their own drawings. This is a great practice for students who want to be able to draw from life, such as in a nature journal.
All the student needs for this class is paper, pencil (with eraser) and a sharpener. If your student plans to join us weekly, they might enjoy using a journal to keep their drawings together, or they can use a nature journal if they already have one started.
