Class Experience

No previous Yoga Experience Necessary!

This Introduction to Yoga- Sun Salutations class focuses on learning the 12 positions that make up a Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar). This version is in line with Sivananda Yoga (as there are some varieties of sun salutations).

The class will start off with a short breathing exercise to calm us and get us ready for class. We will then have a few moments of gratitude- thinking of things we are grateful and choosing what we share of this with the group.
We will then get moving with some warm up exercises- making sure our bodies are ready to move into Sun salutations.
We will learn a little about Sun salutations- what Surya Namaskar means and a little about it's history and then we will jump into learning the sequence.

We will practice this a few times through so that we feel confident in the moves and the sequence.

Our session will end with a relaxation exercise.

This session aims to be fun and relaxed and encourages active participation.

No experience is necessary as this is an introductory class. However, before the session, parents are requested to contact me with any information regarding physical fitness, previous or current injuries or any physical limitations.
