US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In this class, we will learn about famous artists throughout history then create our very own masterpieces inspired by the artist! I will begin class by briefly talking about the artist. I will present the students with a presentation of the artist's work in the form of a Power Point presentation. I will talk about what inspired the artist, their technique, and their style! Students will be introduced to many vocabulary words such as (but not limited to): "Pointillism", "chiaroscuro", "complimentary colors", "Impressionism", "printmaking", "abstract", "Cubism", "perspective", "linear", "silkscreen", "composition", "color theory", "Harlem Renaissance", "Surrealism", "commission work", "mural", "realism", "Abstract Expressionism", "installation", "mixed media", etc. In some presentations, I will show videos of the artist working or how the artist created their work. I will also show videos of some of the techniques used by the artist, i.e., printmaking (woodcut, linocut, etc.), silkscreening, etc. After I show the artist's work, I present my exemplar of what we will be doing. I will then go step-by-step with the students in creating our masterpieces. The students will follow along using the medium listed for that week. At about 5 minutes before the class ends, I ask the learners to share their creations! If the student has not finished their work, they are encouraged to complete their piece and share the finished product by uploading a photo to the classroom or to me via Outschool email! :) *Please note: If a learner is 10 or more minutes late for class, the learner will not be permitted into the classroom. The learner can watch the class recording. *Please note: As per Outschool policy, I do not refund if I receive notice under 24 hours if a learner will miss class - regardless of reason. The learner can refer to the class recording. *2025* Week of January 13: M.C.
