Let's Celebrate Purim--Coloring, Story and Song!
In this one-time class, students will learn about the holiday of Purim, color a Purim page and sing a Purim song in Hebrew. Costumes encouraged!

In this class, students will celebrate Purim by dressing up in their favorite costumes and learning how people celebrate this holiday all over the world! Students will bring all of their "noisemakers" to class-these might be drums, tambourines, shakers and maracas. We will talk about why we use noise makers to block out Haman's name during the Purim story. We will talk about why Haman isn't a character we look up to. Students will also have the opportunity to color a special Purim coloring sheet. Finally, we will sing Chag Purim-a special Hebrew Purim song. This song will be all in Hebrew so some students might enjoy learning the words, but others will just enjoy the repetition and noise making!

Parental Guidance
**The Purim story contains a lot of hatred by a man named Haman. There is talk of death in the story and we will NOT be discussing it in class. All we will say is that Haman is a character that no one likes and that his name is “booed” because he is mean. Should another student bring up violence and death, I will calmly redirect the conversation.

Required Materials: -noise makers of any kind -crayons, markers or colored pencils
