Let's Celebrate Lunar Chinese New Year in Cantonese With a Craft!
This year is the year of the rabbit. Students will be learning Chinese New Year-related vocabulary in Cantonese. We will also be making a rabbit craft. This will be a fun and engaging class.

Students will learn Chinese New Year vocabulary in Cantonese. They will have a better understanding of the culture and how it is celebrated. Each student will have a chance to pronounce the words individually and correct them if needed. Then, we will be playing games such as matching, memory, etc to let students have a better understanding and memory of words. Since this year is the year of the rabbit, we will be making a rabbit craft! This class will be fun and interactive. * Template of the rabbit craft will be posted in the classroom before class * Students do not need prior experience or exposure to Cantonese to join this class. * If there are other times you prefer please message me.

Hello, my name is Joanne. Nice to meet you!
I was born in Hong Kong but moved to Canada when I was six years old. Growing up, my family speaks to me in Cantonese so I'm bilingual in Cantonese and English. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Geography, I went back to Hong Kong to work. Working in Hong Kong for ten years has deepened my understanding of Chinese culture and language. I love both languages and use them daily with my family and friends.
I am now back in Canada and have been teaching children for over 10 years. I am a TESOL-certified online ESL teacher and currently teaching online ESL English and Cantonese to children in the US, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Korea from ages 4-13. I am also teaching Korean adults. I also have a ten-year-old son and we love to read, play in the park, and explore new places.
I believe you will learn more and be better at it when you are enjoying what you are doing. I love to make my students smile and laugh. I will use my bilingual skills and my experience with children to help each student to learn their best. My classes are fun, engaging, and educational.
