Class Experience

Before joining class: Student needs to have Minecraft downloaded on a device and be signed in with a Microsoft Account.
Class experience:
In this ongoing class we work on creativity, collaboration, and communication. When your student enrolls in this class they will receive an invite to the realm. At the start of class, students will join the realm. This realm will be in creative mode, so it is all about the build and working together.

This ongoing class is an opportunity for Minecraft players to "meet" on a regular basis. Class is held on a Minecraft Realm. That is a server where multiple people can play Minecraft together in one place. This class is a fun and safe way for your students to interact with other kids their age. It is a place to help students connect and communicate with each other while creating their own customizable world. Through sharing their common interest in Minecraft, players are able to build friendships, collaborate together, and problem solve through various obstacles within Minecraft. This is an unstructured class so students will have the opportunity to really be creative with what they build. Because it is unstructured, each week is going to be different. So if your student joins the class every single week or just every now and then, they will not get behind.

Requirements before class:
**Have Minecraft Bedrock [Java does not work on this realm] edition installed on a device (if you are playing on a Nintendo switch, you will need to purchase a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This will allow your student to play online.)
**Make sure you are logged onto a Microsoft account before class
**Make sure you can log into my realm, which is my Minecraft server, by inputting the invite code. I will give you the code when you enroll.
**Know how to play Minecraft. Since everyone plays on their own device, I do not know how to work every single device that is compatible with Minecraft. So students must know Minecraft basics before class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Howdy! I am a writer and teacher from Texas.

I think social interaction with people your own age is super important, but also a bit hard in these times. In my "classroom" I strive to make a safe and fun environment for your students to not miss out on playing with kids their own age.
I currently host Among Us and Minecraft classes. Both of these are games I learned (and now LOVE) with in the past year. This being said, if your kiddo has a game they love but cannot find a social setting to play, feel free to message me and I can do my best to learn it and make a class.

I have a BS in General Studies from Texas A&M University. I am currently enrolled in a graduate school program and am getting my Masters in Communication.

In my classroom, I value safety, good attitude, and taking turns. I currently do not have academic classes, so my biggest hope is that your student is able to make friends in my classes.
