Let's Break It Down! Weekly Overwatch 2 Gaming Club
Class experience
Overwatch 2 is a team-based shooter game featuring two teams of five, chosen from a diverse selection of heroes, each with unique powers, all fighting to secure objectives in fast paced, intricate battles for supremacy over territories. Teams are broken down into three specialties; Tank heroes (damage sponges that also blast through the front lines to break teams apart), Damage/DPS heroes (high damage output to put lots of pressure on the other team), and Support heroes (healing, damage...
Students will hone in on social skills like teamwork and collaboration, as well as strategy in a game that is constantly evolving. We will also always follow the rules of sportsmanship, for at the end of the day, it is just a game, even when playing competitively.
I love playing board games and video games, and have played nearly 500 hours of Overwatch, the majority of which has been played in Competitive modes. I also follow YouTube streamers that focus on tips and tricks for the game, and follow the Overwatch League to glean techniques from the pros themselves.
Players will need an installed copy of Overwatch 2 for PC or console, which can be found at https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/ and is free to play. I will personally be playing via PC, using the Battle.Net app, but due to the addition of cross-play capabilities, it is also an option to join in from XBox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Overwatch 2 is rated T for teen, due to its featuring blood (though very sparsely), tobacco use (again, sparsely), and violence. If you would like to see if it seems appropriate for your learner, there are several live play videos of the game on YouTube, as well as the trailers for the game at https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/ *Important* As this is a game that requires gamer tags (online usernames) to play, that means it's a required piece of personal information in order to play the game. I will be setting up private servers, as I've said, but all usernames need to be sent to me upon sign-up (whether by learner or, preferably parent), in a PRIVATE message. Usernames cannot be posted publicly in the classroom, and will be deleted if I see them. They need to be sent via private message to maintain security. Thanks!
Hi there! I'm Sam! I've been teaching on Outschool for just over three years, and it's been an absolute delight. I primarily offer courses focusing on art, design, and some more "nerdy" ventures, such as video games and roleplaying games like...
