Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 10
In this course, students will search for evidence, gather clues, and discover how science can help solve a mystery. From dusting for fingerprints to analyzing handwriting, these easy, fun-filled classes give you a firsthand look at how detectives and forensic scientists use science to solve real-life crimes.

Through a variety of easy, at-home experiments, students learn how to take and analyze fingerprints, identify blood and detect counterfeit bills, make a plaster cast of a shoe, Identify lip prints left on the glass, Examine hair and clothing fibers, and practice chemistry to identify mystery substances.

Each class includes an introduction, a lecture that relates the science principles behind each case scenario to its use in solving real-life crimes, step-by-step simple experiments via slides, along with questions, and an explanation.

Each case scenario includes observing the crime scene, gathering evidence, and analyzing the chemical, biological, and documentary clues. Some case scenarios may include a simple experiment that children can perform.
