Hello and welcome to my tutoring class. In this class, I welcome the Learner to bring their homework or school lesson and we can work through the lesson together. Also, if there are handouts or any other lesson information that you need help with, I am happy to help. This tutoring session will cover science-related topics. I encourage the Learner to message me prior to class with the topic they would like to study so that I can prepare study materials before class. My class is Learner-centered. My goal is to make the Learner comfortable in class and to know that my class is a safe place to misspell words or make any type of mistake. I am not going to call out any student for a mistake. I will correct the error in a fashion that all students are comfortable with. I will engage the Learner with the topic of their choice. I will first discover where the opportunity for learning is and center our conversation around clarifying each opportunity. I will give examples and show photos if necessary in order to relate the information to the learner. The Learner can ask me questions throughout the class. I do ask that if another Learner is speaking that you raise your hand and wait until the other student is done talking. I think it is very important that each student know their voice will be respectfully heard. My tutoring classes are only 25 minutes long. I do not like to have class any longer than this. As I have been studying developmental education, I realize the reality of attention spans. I do not want to over-load the Learner or overwhelm them with too much information at once. In my experience, shorter tutoring times have been more successful. There is no required experience for this class. This can also be a private class if requested. If you do not see a time or day listed, please message me so I can make arrangements for the time and day you would like.
Learning Goals
Goal One: this class is for the Learner to take away clarity with the topic or topics they needed extra help understanding.
