US Grade Kindergarten - 3
In this social course, Lego® Builders can come together to share a creation they made at home, talk about building techniques, learn a bit about the history of these amazing bricks, and participate in a mini-building challenge. During our time together, I will model and encourage respect, creativity, and determination. Builders will have the chance to chat and build friendships as they share their passion for all things Lego® brick related. Builders should all bring a build they are working on or have completed to share with the group. Each builder will have the opportunity to practice speaking to others during class about their creations and any unique techniques they may have used in their build. Most of the class will be student -led. I will spend a few minutes showing a few slides, sharing (and letting builders share) some facts about the history of Lego® bricks. Class will also include a mini-build challenge. Builders may complete the challenge during class or may continue building long beyond class time. It is my hope that all builders leave class excited to keep building! Students will be encouraged to share their creations, compliment and ask questions of other buildings, and to try different Lego building techniques. This is a one-time class, however, I offer a similar ongoing, weekly class.
Learning Goals
It is my goal for Builders to experience: confidence in speaking and explaining their builds to others, social growth and good character when speaking and responding, determination to try new techniques/challenges, and an opportunity to share their creativity with others. As a Lego League Jr coach, I have had experience with encouraging children to listen and respect one another and their ideas, to problem solve, and to celebrate Lego-Awesomeness.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.
- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!
I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
